Bishop John Shelby Spong has died.  Fascinating colorful and controversial figure. Loved or scorned depending on whether you were on the Left or Right church aisle.

FAR RIGHT FAR LEFT CATHOLICS?

 Does the Catholic Church have conservatives and liberals, Fundamentalists and Progressives?  Sure. They don't use those Protestant terms but they've got 'em.

WWJD all over again.

I am amazed at the numbers of Facebook theologians who know exactly what Jesus would do about any given contemporary situation .  The Left is convinced that  His first order of business will be the closing of  the churches because organized religion is bad and Christianity is the worst. On the Right, they believe Jesus would call us back to church to hear the gospel and get saved.  In the middle  or wherever they are,  there's the Progressives.  They welcome you to the group no matter what you believe. Or if you don't believe anything. They like to talk about the the things they don't believe.

Where did they go??

What? Newer posts have disappeared.  Censored? Come on, I  don't get that controversial.  Some good ones about Bishop Barron, Mother Angelica, Fulton Sheen. I will find them. One about the Methodists, too.   Oops, they are still here. Long way down.

Let's argue. Not.

You want to argue religion? Nope.  I don't know what I'm talking about and you don't know what you're talking about. So let us not waste each others time.

 

Logic Be Damned

You want logical religion?  OK.  I want to believe in things that transcend human logic. 

Have you said "I logically love you" to somebody lately?

 I like religious tradition. That is all I have to say about it.  Don't worship it.  Just like it.
