The Benny Hinn Show

I watched Benny Hinn falling down from being overtaken by the Holy Ghost. His associates pick him up and he keeps falling.  I guess God somehow keeps him from being injured.

Why "Goofy" is in the title

There's an awful lot of awful bad religion.  Most of it is just funny,  like the televangelist with the twenty three thousand dollar toilet.  That's goofy.

Is you is or is you ain't

What negatives times we are living in.  There are unfundamentalists. I just found a fellow who calls himself a non-Republican Christian. When did it get more important to say what we are not than declaring what we are?

Peculiar point to ponder.

Are "church people" held to a much higher standard than "the rest of us?" If that's true and some of them fall off their pedestals or their halos get seriously tarnished and they are just as human as the rest of us, may the rest of us then  say the churches are full of hypocrites?

Wanna talk about my shorts?

Most of my blog posts are real short. That gives me at least a hint of a ghost of a chance that somebody might read one. I can write long things and they are pretty good. But who's gonna read them. We live in a time of short attention span and instant gratification.  It's the era of the tweet.

Does  this have anything to do with church stuff?  I think so.  I am a big fan or religious writers and speakers who say it with a few well chosen words. Nobody does it better than California Bishop Robert Barron. Look him up.

"I'm friendly and you're nuts."

There's an interesting web page, "Friendly Atheist."  It's nice to know they're friendly.  One of the contributors says Adults with imaginary friends are mentally ill. Make of it what you will. I suppose he's talking about God, Jesus, saints, angels, etc. I don't know if Santa and the Easter Bunny are on the list. Or Columbus or Toledo.

Religious Fruitcake?

The organized church, its leaders and members have done some pretty terrible things.  Popes and Protestant preachers are always under fire for dreadful  crimes.  So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense that I still believe in it, convinced that churches and church people do some really good things.  I guess I must be a religious nut.
