The Methodists are splitting again. Not about slavery this time.The Catholics are all in a dither over the same issues.  The gender thing among other traditional versus progressive ideas.  Not  a new thing but media gets all excited, tossing around words like "schism,."

 I had the greatest thought. If only Bishop Barron and Mother Angelica had known each other and done a TV show together. Ratings through the roof.

Sunday Morning Politics??

 Kinda glad I'm no longer involved in church activity. I don't want a preacher or priest or any kind of guru telling me how to vote. I'm so old fashioned that it would be nice to just hear about God and Jesus and all that churchy stuff on Sunday Morning.  If I want to apply that to  politics it's my personal business.

I say again. These posts, as in my other blogs..4 or 5 or whatever it is.. are Half Baked Mutterings. I claim nothing more.  If you need to counter with your own HBMs, go for it. But if you crave an argument, you ain't gonna get it here.

Snide, snarky, sarcastic

No posts since May?  Where have I been?  I don't think I was in church.  Anyway .... overheard conversation:

Teen girl: Mom, I need to tell you something about what I want to do with my life. It's really important, so please don't get upset.

Mom: Oh Honey, I will always love and support you. You are living at a time when a girl is empowered to do anything and be anything.

Teen:  Mom,  I want to be a Christian.

Mom: OH MY GOD! Where did I go wrong?  Honey, I know a psychiatrist who specializes in treating that disorder.  I will make an appointment right away.

Bless your memory, Mother.

It's good to watch the old Mother Angelica videos.  She was one fun nun. I hope they make her a saint. If it requires a miracle, starting a world wide Catholic radio/TV network from Alabama gives her a good chance.

Online church is perfect for introverts. We are not anxious for all the hugging and sharing to resume.

No Holy Hugs??

How are the church huggers and handshakers dealing with the big virus?  Anyway, there wil be fewer church scandals as long as holy hugs are forbidden.

NATURE OF GOD?

You wonder about the nature of God? Who or what God is ? Look up all the great theologians or ask on Facebook. Somebody will have something to say about anything. Only thing I am certain about is that God is not an old bearded White guy sitting on a throne up in the sky.

Become a reverend

It is quite legal and easy and doesn't cost much to become a wedding officiant or an ordained preacher. The temptation to do that is pretty great. Start a new church.  Everybody's doing it.

I'm way OK with it if you lead a good, productive life with never a thought about religion. Or if you're spiritual but not religious.  Or a raving atheist.  Or a thoughtful Agnostic. But come on, don't call me an ignorant or misguided fool,  not as  smart or as woke to the truth as you are because I find meaning in religious ideas and practices.  OK?

Bad Bad Pope

Oh No!  The Holy Father is not perfect, like Christians are supposed to be.  The Pope slapped a woman!  Actually he slapped her hand.  I guess that proves that Christianity is a big lie.
